Frequently
Asked Questions
How can I be best prepared for the initial consultation?
Give careful consideration to the overall scope of your project as well as attentive awareness to creating your lists of “must-haves” and “like-to-haves”. Additionally, we will want to review your property survey and have all decision-makers present. Firstly, we recommend that you let yourself dream. What would be best for your family? What would maximize the daily use of your space? How many congregation areas are needed?
Will we need to secure permits or HOA approvals?
Regarding permits, each municipality has a different set of rules. As a rule of thumb, vertical structures, gas lines and electrical work will require permitting; rest assured, we will secure permits on your behalf. In regards to your Homeowner's Association (if applicable), we will help you to secure any HOA approvals needed. However, it is important that you, the homeowner, research what is and is not required by your specific HOA. We are thrilled to assist with this as well, but all liability from the HOA remains with the homeowner not the contractor.
How long will my project take?
This can vary based on numerous factors: Engineering, City Permits, and HOA Approvals especially, not to mention weather. We pride ourselves in treating our clients the way we want to be treated when we are in your shoes, so we go above and beyond to provide up-to-date communication regarding your project's timing.
What if your quote doesn't fit into our budget?
We have multiple options to address this together. Many of our clients utilize the monthly payment options we provide. Others choose to complete their project in phases, or reduce the scope of their project altogether. We are happy to help you cost-engineer your project’s list of 'like-to-haves' in order to support the 'must-haves' in a way that helps reduce cost to meet your budgeting needs.
How can we be sure that our project will be warrantied?
Great question. You can never be too sure. There are hundreds of companies that can build you a project. Our customers insist their friends and colleagues call us, because we follow through on our commitments. Our warranty covers the workmanship of your project for life. This means, if we did something wrong, we will fix it.
Do you use subcontractors?
Yes, we do. The word subcontractor tends to be used pejoratively in our industry. We, however, partner differently with our subcontractors than other companies you may talk to. In the same way that we value a relational approach with you, our clients, we also place immense value on the relationships we have forged with our numerous trade partners–many of which we have maintained for over a decade. For us, utilizing trade partners means that we are able to recruit and employ the best of the best for each individual component of your project’s scope– from masonry, to carpentry, to pool resurfacing, granite installation, coping, tile work, electrical, plumbing, and more. We utilize the same teams over and over in order to ensure consistent, quality craftsmanship. This creates what we believe to be, not only superb construction, but also, a more detailed, collaborative approach to communication with you, our clients.
